not me in the picture to the right, but she's gorgeous, don't you think?)
How long does the average room take to rearrange?
ANSWER: We're usually at a client's home between 3-4 hours
up to an entire day (6 hours, allowing for travel too).
Do you physically move the furniture and accessories,
or just tell us what to do?
ANSWER: We actually come in my "grubbies" and we physically
move the furniture and accessories. Sometimes I bring an assistant.
Sometimes I am alone and will need the homeowner's help. I also
bring some tools of the trade to help in the process.
How are the liability risks handled? ANSWER:
I do not accept liability for anything that is moved. All clients
are required to sign a liability waiver assuming all of the risk to their
property and possessions. This keeps the consultation fee as low as
possible. In the 17 years I have been doing rearrangement design, I have
never broken or damaged anything belonging to a client. We are extremely
careful. The homeowner is asked to move really delicate accessories,
so we do require someone to be present during the redesign process.
What are your consultation fees?
ANSWER: We have a one-hour initial consultation fee
of $75 (it runs a little more for clients that are more than a 20
minute drive in any direction). During that hour the client may ask for
advice on any part of the home they wish. Suggestions will gladly be
furnished. At the completion of the hour, the homeowner has the
option of scheduling a full room rearrangement, redesign service for one
room or the entire home. There is a $350 fee to redesign a complete
room. Most rooms take about 3-4 hours, however, we will stay until
the redesign is complete. If it goes quickly, we will work on
another room of the homeowner's choice in addition to the scheduled room,
if the homeowner so chooses.
We never leave a home until we are satisfied
that the homeowner is very happy with the results. So the risk is on
us. If it takes longer than expected, so be it. The homeowner
never pays extra because the redesign took all day.
When do you schedule appointments?
ANSWER: In the morning so that we have daylight for as long as possible.
However, some people can only meet with us in the
evenings or on weekends. We try to accommodate your needs.
When is payment due?
ANSWER: Documents of the agreed upon price are signed upon our arrival. Payment is due at the conclusion of the consultation. An
invoice will be provided at the conclusion of the appointment, along with
a request for a brief testimonial and any referrals the client might wish
to pass on.
